Best Engagement Photo Locations in Kansas City
Where to Capture Your Love Story in KCMO
As a wedding and lifestyle photographer, one of my favorite things about Kansas City is how many beautiful, diverse locations we have for engagement photos. Whether you’re dreaming of something romantic and urban or natural and timeless, this city has the perfect backdrop to tell your love story.
Here are some of my favorite engagement photo locations in Kansas City — tried, true, and full of magic:
1. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Clean lines, marble architecture, and iconic Kansas City sculptures make this location a favorite for couples who love elegance with an editorial flair. The museum grounds offer stunning variety — from the reflecting pool to open greens, tree-lined walkways, and dramatic columns that catch the light beautifully. It’s a timeless setting that never feels overdone.
2. Loose Park
Classic, romantic, and full of charm. Loose Park is especially perfect in the spring when the rose garden is in full bloom — or in autumn when the trees turn golden. There’s a dreamy footbridge, open fields, and softly wooded trails, making it ideal for couples who love soft, natural light and a timeless garden feel.
3. Liberty Memorial / WWI Museum
For sweeping skyline views and golden-hour glow, Liberty Memorial is a KC staple. It’s bold, dramatic, and incredibly romantic — especially for couples who want those “just us and the city” vibes. The limestone steps and rooftop ledge give us tons of posing options with downtown glowing in the distance.
4. The Crossroads Arts District
Colorful murals, brick alleyways, vintage signage, and a mix of gritty and refined textures — Crossroads is the spot for couples who want fun, creative, personality-packed engagement photos. Every corner offers something new and bold.
5. Downtown KC
City lovers, this one’s for you. Downtown sessions are filled with sidewalk strolls, traffic light flares, and that just-the-two-of-us-in-the-city kind of energy. Great for formal outfits, or a fun champagne pop on the street.
6. Your Favorite Coffee Shop, Rooftop, or Backyard
Sometimes the best location is one that’s personal. Your favorite Saturday morning coffee spot. The rooftop where you watched the sunset together. Your own backyard where you slow danced under string lights. These sessions are cozy, intentional, and feel like home.
Bonus: Seasonal Tips

Of course, there are endless options! Kansas City is full of beautiful spots waiting to be part of your love story. If you have a special place that means something to you, let’s chat about making that the backdrop for your session.
